Zaurus Keyboard Light and Blue Paint
Paint was done with Tamiya Acrylic paint (2 parts Blue to 1 part Chrome Silver), with an over coat of Tester Dullcoat Lacquer. Unit was fully disassembled, masked off, then air brushed. Total work was about 5 hours.
The keyboard lights runs off of the internal battery. The lights are automatically switched on when you slide down the keyboard cover. This was done by using the metal bar (which is on the inside of the slide rail) on the left side to close the circuit. There are 3 1.5V bulbs, run in serial (4.5V total). The lights were purchased for a hobby train store. Total work for this was about 10 hours.
My digital camera is really bad, I apologize for the poor quality.

This is a picture of the bulb (to the right) next to a high intensity LED (middle) and a US quater. The bulbs come preattached to positive and negitive leads and not noticible wider than black wires in the picture that are attached to it, which is why it just looks like a black wire in the picture. Trust me, there is a bulb there.

Here is a diagram as to how it is wired. The circuit is closed when the keyboard is slid down and the 2 contacts on the side are crossed by the metal bar in the inside of the slide rail. No wires or switches are exposed, everything except the tips of the bulbs are internal.
